AAO Awards
Moran Eye Center Physicians Randall J Olson, MD, and Nick Mamalis, MD, both received lifetime achievement awards from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), at the largest gathering of ophthalmologists in the United States. This award honors these physicians' contributions to the Academy, its scientific and education programs, and to ophthalmology. The awards were presented at AAO's annual event, held this year in Las Vegas from November 14-17.
Dr. Randall J Olson
Olson is professor and chair of ophthalmology and visual sciences and CEO of the John A. Moran Eye Center at the 亚洲自慰视频 of Utah. He is the author of more than 300 professional publications and a worldwide lecturer. He specializes in research dealing with cataract surgery complications and infectious ophthalmic diseases.
Olson was honored in 2012 as the Binkhorst Lecturer at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, an award dedicated to excellence in intraocular lens research. In 2014 he was awarded the Rosenblatt Prize for Excellence, the 亚洲自慰视频 of Utah's top award. Additionally, Olson was selected as one of the 15 best cataract surgeons in the United States in a peer survey conducted by Ophthalmology Times and Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today named Olson as one of 50 international opinion leaders.
Dr. Nick Mamalis
Mamalis is a professor of ophthalmology, director of the Ophthalmic Pathology Laboratory, and a co-director of the Intermountain Ocular Research Center at the John A. Moran Eye Center. He focuses his clinical practice on comprehensive ophthalmology, including cataract and other anterior ocular surgeries.
The Intermountain Ocular Research Center is a world leader in the area of intraocular lenses and postoperative inflammation, and researchers from around the world for advice and assistance on new IOL technologies and designs and IOL-related complications, including surgically removed implants and lens-induced disease. Dr. Mamalis lectures around the world and was selected by Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today as one of 50 international opinion leaders.
